An Island Mom’s First Anniversary!

From my vantage point, it seems hard to believe that today is the one year anniversary of An Island Mom. One year ago I sat, surrounded by lists of post ideas and a few rough drafts, trying to figure out how to make this whole thing tangible to anyone other than myself. And now, here I sit a year later, writing my 205th post.

Especially, I want to thank all of you who, for reasons sensible or otherwise, have chosen to read An Island Mom and laugh, groan, roll your eyes and whatever else with me. All of you have been a joy.

In light of the anniversary, then, it seems appropriate to go over a few of the highlights of this blog, posts that stand out in my mind as I think back over the year. So here goes:

What My Neighbors Must Think

A one-year anniversary is usually just the beginning of something, or at least just the beginning of most things that count for much. I hope that this is just the very beginning of An Island Mom. ‘Cause I’ve learned so much from y’all, and I’ve laughed so hard with y’all, and I’ve been moved in ways I never imagined by y’all.

And, I’ve grown accustomed to sitting alone at my computer, coffee or shiraz in hand, laughing aloud as I write, with all of you so far away in geographical miles and yet so close in blog miles.

I don’t think I’d want it any other way.

  1. Congratulations on your first anniversary! It has been delightful reading your blog. Thank you for taking the time to share all this wonderful island life with us.

    1. Thanks! I’ve enjoyed doing it, and love having met so many great people, especially ones who don’t hold my lack of skills in the area of plants, gardening, etc. against me. 🙂 Sidenote: I got the Venus flytrap rocking and rolling again and really growing, and then I woke up Sunday morning and it was withered. Ugh.

  2. Congratulations on your blogging anniversary. Your stories are funny and a great view into a different lifestyle from mine. Thank you and I’m quite happy to have found An Island Mom.

    1. The feeling is mutual! Thanks for sharing your life with us as well!

  3. Yay! Congratulations. I just had my 1st anniversary last month.

    1. Congrats! It’s a good feeling, isn’t it? 🙂

  4. Happy Blog Anniversary to you! I can’t believe it had only been a year since you’ve been blogging! Seems like we’ve “known” each other much longer. I really appreciate the peeks into island life, as well as your embarrassing & shopping posts–those are the ones that make me feel like I’m not alone in such matters. 😉 May you have many more blogging years ahead of you.
